It is a myth that you will easily pass the driver’s license test if you are a good driver. If you have been driving for years and move to a different state, you will have to pass DMV written test to get a driver’s license in your new home state. It is not always easy to pass the test even though you have been driving for years.

Driving license test or learner’s permit test is a test of your knowledge on driving rules. Study the DMV manual of your state well. Know the driving signs and symbols. Take at least 10 mock tests. Some of the learner’s permit test prep sites offer free sample permit test questions. Or you can subscribe to their test packages to get access to more tests.

Statistics says about 70% test takers fail the learner’s permit test at the first attempt. This includes the teen driver’s failure rate too. Some test takers do not study or have enough experience in driving. The written test is actually moderately easy, just as long as you spend some time looking over all the materials.

Also, if you are studying for the license, you need to know the basic information about driving license and learner’s permit tests . Almost all the states require you to pass a vision test and a test of basic driving knowledge. The reason that most drivers are unable to pass their first written DMV exam is what you might expect: not studying for the test. Passing on the first try will save you money and time. Know what to expect and prepare well for success in the permit test.  Remember one thing - these tests are administered for your own safety.  The better you understand the driving rules, road signs and symbols, night time driving, and special driving conditions such as during rain and snow, the safer you are both for yourself and fellow drivers.
